KATHLEEN H. THORNTON

Kathleen Hughes Thornton, 81, died Tuesday at her residence.
Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Hughes and Beatrice Wade Hughes, and wife of the late Percy Thornton.
She was a member of Eureka Christian Church and Woodman of the World, and was retired from Grantham School cafeteria.
A service to celebrate her life will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Eureka Christian Church, with the Rev. Frank Purvis officiating. Burial will follow in Grady Family Cemetery.
The family will greet friends Thursday evening from 7 to 9 at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and at other times, will be at the home.
Mrs. Thornton is survived by her children, Dean and Sandra Thornton, Kathy and Mark Smith and Gina and Jerry Taylor all of Grantham, Douglas and Cheryl Thornton of LaGrange and Dwight Thornton of Dunn; a sister, Margaret Barber of Goldsboro; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Eureka Christian Church, 2036 Dobbersville Road, Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.
