Gary Dewight Garner, 56, Mount Olive, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015.
Gary was born Oct. 30, 1958, in Lenoir County to Mack Donald "Bobby" Garner and Virginia Carter Garner.
A true outdoorsman, Gary was most comfortable outside with nature. He enjoyed fishing, camping, four-wheeling and piddling in his shop.
Most important to Gary was his family. He cherished the time spent with his son, Dewight. They were the best of friends and constant companions.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Garner Family Cemetery, 301 Hopewell Lane, Mount Olive.
In addition to his parents, Gary is lovingly survived by his wife of 28 years, Geraldine Hensley Garner; his son and the apple of his eye, Dewight Garner; three brothers, Billy Garner, Larry Garner and Don Garner; his mother-in-law, Lotus Vanover; and four brothers-in-law, Dewey Hensley, Patrick Hensley, Clancy Hensley and Tim Mullins.
Gary's family will receive friends Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home and at other times, the family will be at the home.
