George E. Yelverton, 81, of Fremont, died Wednesday, July 22, 2015.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Elmwood Cemetery, Fremont.
The visitation will immediately follow at Fremont United Methodist Church.
George was an avid sports fan and enjoyed attending all events his children and grandchildren participated in.
His grandchildren lovingly called him "Pop Pop."
George graduated from Eureka High School and was retired from Dupont with 37 years of service.
He always loved reminiscing about childhood stories and watching westerns on television.
He was preceded in death by his son, Steve Yelverton; parents, Samuel Robert and Margaret Cox Yelverton; and several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Taylor Yelverton; daughter, Mary-Kay Reynolds (Rich) of Chapel Hill; sons, Bill Yelverton (Jan Kelly) of Fremont and Eddie Yelverton (Cindy) of Fremont; grandchildren, Scott Yelverton (Megan Snead) and Maegan Yelverton; sister, Margaret Siegel of Goldsboro; and brother, Richard Yelverton (Bobbie) of Patetown.
