BARBARA S. ELLINGTON

Barbara Smith Ellington, 80, Goldsboro, passed away Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Barbara was born in Craven County May 13, 1935, to the late Carlton and Thelma Thompson Smith. She was married to the late Claude Horace Ellington.
Barbara was a member of Rosewood First Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2015, at Rosewood First Baptist Church, followed by a service celebrating Barbara's life at 11 a.m., with Dr. Mike Collier officiating. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. in Creedmoor Cemetery in Creedmoor.
Barbara is survived by her sons, Claude Horace Ellington Jr. "Jay" and wife, Jennifer, of Albuquerque, N.M., and Michael Douglas Ellington of Kill Devil Hills; sister, Ethel Hamilton of Beaufort; half-sister, Nancy Lou Duncan of Clayton; and three grandchildren, Caleb Story Ellington, Hannah Noelle Ellington and Rowan Brainard Ellington.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Gleaners Sunday school class at Rosewood First Baptist Church, 562 N.C. 581 South, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530; Goldsboro Host Lions Club, P.O. Box 308, Goldsboro, N.C., 27533; or North Carolina School for the Blind, 301 Ashe Ave., Raleigh, N.C., 27606.
