ALMA P. LEWIS

Alma Pate Lewis, 80, Pikeville, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015, surrounded by her family.
Alma was born in Wayne County, N.C. on Dec. 26, 1934, to the late Handley Frank Pate and Irene Amerson Pate.
She was a caring, loving parent and grandparent whose primary goal was the happiness and security of her family.
Alma was a member at the Mount Carmel United Methodist Church.
She was also a member of the United Methodist Women, Extension Homemakers and was a volunteer with Services on Aging.
She will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends Saturday, March 28, 2015, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by the funeral service at 3 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Rose Hicks officiating.
Interment will follow at Pikeville Cemetery.
At other times, the family will be at the home of Phyllis and Chuck Kennedy, 203 Mill St., Pikeville.
Alma is survived by her daughters, Diane Dixon and husband, Allan, of Princeton, Phyllis Kennedy and husband, Chuck, of Pikeville and Cathy Lewis Sasser of Goldsboro; son, Jerry Lewis of Faro; sisters, Suzanne Gurley of Pikeville, Sara Rollins of Goldsboro and Linda Pate of Goldsboro; brothers, Frank Pate and wife, Edna, of Goldsboro, Brooks Pate and wife, Annette, of Pikeville and Handley Frank "Junior" Pate and wife, Mary, of Pikeville.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, April Vail, Alex Dixon, Jerrica Lewis and Jackson Sasser and her great-grandchildren, Dane Dixon and Noah Hill.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Handley Thomas Pate.
Although flowers are welcome, the family requests memorials to be made to Alzheimers of North Carolina, 1305 Navaho Drive, Suite 101, Raleigh, N.C., 27609 or Countryside Village, 5383 U.S. 117 North, Pikeville, N.C., 27863.
