PHYLLIS FIELDS STEVENS

Phyllis Paulette Fields Stevens, 67, Goldsboro, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family.
Phyllis was born in Greene County on Jan. 17, 1948, to the late Ray and Dean Fields.
She was a registered nurse and had worked for 23 years as a nursing consultant for the Department of Medical Assistance in Raleigh.
Phyllis was deeply devoted to her family, and she always thought her greatest accomplishment was helping the children of North Carolina through her work with the state.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a graveside service celebrating Phyllis' life at 2:30 p.m. in Wayne Memorial Park.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Wilson Wood Stevens; son, Robert Glenn Walston and wife, Margaret, of Goldsboro; two sisters, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by a special niece, Crystal Craft and daughter, Avery; and Wilson's brothers and sisters whom she loved very much.
Phyllis found great comfort in the companionship of her yorkies, Dusty and Starbuck.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her son, Johnny Ray Walston, and one sister.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to St. Jude Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, T.N., 38101-9929.
