CLAYTON M. ALEXANDER

Clayton Moore Alexander, 24, son of Alan Clay and JoAnn Alphin Alexander, went home to be with his Lord Jesus on Feb. 2, 2015.

Clayton was born April 27, 1990 in Camden, S.C. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Simpsonville, S.C., and was a student at Greenville Technical College. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved being with his sister behind their Dad's boat on Lake Jocassee.

He was a deer hunter and an accomplished guitarist. He was a member of the wrestling team and broadcast journalism team at Lexington High School. He was a Salkahatchie High School Summer School Participant and a Duke TIP Junior Scholar.

He loved the Clemson Tigers and was a former member of Mount Horeb United Methodist Church in Lexington, S.C. He was invited to participate in the National Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his sister, Callie Frances Alexander; maternal grandmother, Marguerite Register Alphin; uncles and aunts, William and Suzan Alexander, Gilbert E. and Karen Alphin, and Billy and Anita Alphin Bryan; cousins, Drew Alexander (Leslie), Stephen Baucum, Elizabeth Baucum, John Houston Bryan and Macaulay Grace Bryan.

He was predeceased by grandparents, M.O. and Marion Alexander and Dr. John Gilbert Alphin. Dr. Alphin was a native of the Summerlin's Crossroads community near Mount Olive.

A celebration of Clayton's life was held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at First Baptist Church of Simpsonville, S.C., officiated by the Rev. Brian Owens.

A graveside committal service will be held on Monday will be held at 11 a.m. at the Gilbert E. and Eva Grady Alphin Family Cemetery on Alphin Road, Mount Olive. The Rev. Wanda Simmons will officiate. Following this service, the family will receive friends at Bethel United Methodist Church.
