DELMAS W. HOLMES
April 23, 1931-April 4, 2014
Delmas W. Holmes, 82, passed away Friday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late Marvin and Lillie Ivey Holmes, and was the husband of Bertha Newcomb Holmes. Mr. Holmes was retired from the North Carolina State Research Farms, and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church of LaGrange.
A funeral service will be held on Monday at 3 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Pastor Gerald Fowler officiating. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter, Frances Holmes Lee and husband, Jerry of LaGrange; a son, Ray Holmes and wife, Debbie of Goldsboro; a grandson, Daniel Holmes and wife, Miller of Greenville; a brother, Wayne Holmes of Asheboro; and two sisters, Inez Lohr of Richmond, Va. and Carol Wiggs of Texas.
