Jody Scarborough, 55, of Princeton, died suddenly at home on Saturday morning, Sept. 28. Born in Worcester, Mass., he was the son of Henry and Nancy Scarborough. He served in the United States Army for 21 years as a truck driver, truck master, and then first sergeant. He was employed with Jackson Builders Inc. as a project superintendent.
A service to celebrate his life will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at The Bridge in Princeton, N.C., and will be officiated by the Rev. Andy Stovall. Family members will remain to greet friends immediately following the service. Graveside services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Scarborough is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Gail Scarborough; a son, Jason and wife, Kelsey of Fort Knox, Ky. ; a daughter, Staci and fiancé, Tyler Griffith of Princeton; his grandchildren and the lights of his life, Colby Barry and Jackson Scarborough; brothers, Steven and Clara of Webster, Mass., Tracy of California, Jonathan of Knoxville, Tenn., and Lance of Old Orchard Beach, Maine; sisters, Kandi Schmidt of Worcester, Mass., Cynthia of Knoxville, Tenn., and Janelle Gibbs of S.C.; his mother-in-law, Geraldine Barfield of Goldsboro; sister-in-law, Sheila Esquivel of Goldsboro; brothers-in-law, Michael Evans and wife, Jean, and Randy Evans and wife, Angie of Goldsboro; numerous nieces and nephews; and his loyal fur buddies, Rex, Odie and grand-dog, Bailey.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Rick.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to The Bridge, 188 Whitley Church Road, Princeton, NC 27569 or to St. Mark Church of Christ, 700 W. Ash St., Goldsboro, NC 27530. These were his last two projects with Jackson Builders, Inc. and where he came to love all he met.
