RUBY LEE KORNEGAY HEAD

Ruby Lee Kornegay Head, 79, died Monday afternoon at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Kornegay and the late Minnie Wiggins Kornegay Dail.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Virginia Ferrell, and brothers, James Clifton Kornegay and Elton Ray Kornegay.
She was formerly employed with Kemp Furniture Industries and the Candy Kitchen.
For many years Ruby and her husband, the late Linwood E. Head, were active in Goldsboro Pentecostal Holiness Church.
A service to celebrate Ruby's life will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with pastor Berry House officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Family members will greet friends Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times at the home.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Best and husband, William; her son, Ernest Head and wife, Carla; a son-in-law, Gerald Ferrell; a half-brother, William Dail; a half-sister, Dorothy Bass; six grandchildren, Kenneth King and wife, Sharon, Jeremy King and wife, Heather, Joshua Head and wife, Jessica, Dr. James Head, Amy Ferrell and Anna Best; nine great-grandchildren, Linwood D. King, Ayden Head, Kyndall Head, Jonathon Williams, Kaylee Williams, Zachary King, Chance King, Ashley Davis and Brittany O'Banion; and a special friend, Virginia Wells Hudson.
