HOOVER TAYLOR

STANTONSBURG -- Herbert Hoover Taylor, 84, went to be with his Lord Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.
Hoover was born in Greene County Sept. 8, 1928, to the late Julius and Blanche Radford Taylor. He was married to the late Pearl Marie Lancaster Taylor.
Hoover lived a life of dedication to his family and friends and to his community.
He was a farmer in the Watery Branch community, as well as the owner and operator of Taylor C-Mart in Eureka, as well as in other communities in our area.
Hoover faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He was a longtime member of Watery Branch Free Will Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, at Watery Branch Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Allen Stanley, the Rev. A.G. Smith and the Rev. Dave DeHart officiating. Burial will follow in Eureka Cemetery with military honors.
Hoover is survived by his sons, Randy Taylor and wife, Linda, of Eureka and Dr. Steve Taylor and wife, Pam, of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Brandon Taylor, Tyler Taylor, Bradley Taylor, Natalie Taylor and Steven Taylor Jr.; sisters, Marie Gentilini, Janice Robinson and Linda Gail Smith all of Virginia; brothers, Linwood Taylor of South Carolina and James Taylor of Pikeville; and special friend and companion, Inez Bone of Wilson.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth H. Taylor, and a brother, Dexter Taylor.
The family would like to express its appreciation for the compassionate care provided by the staff of Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The family will receive friends Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home.
