Mr. Russell Edward Smith Sr., age 91, of 600 S. Goldsboro St., Fremont, died July 23, 2013, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at St. James Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ, 514 Memorial Church Road, Fremont. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park, Hwy 117 South, Dudley.
A public viewing will be held Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m., and the family will be present from 6 to 7 p.m.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Mary Lee Smith; five sons, Russell E. Smith Jr. of Fremont, Charles E. Smith of Dudley, Johnnie L. Smith, Ricky W. Smith, both of Fremont, and Danny J. Smith of Goldsboro; three daughters, Apostle Mary M. Brown, Cora Dianne Applewhite and Janice Pinder, all of Goldsboro; one sister, Corine Best of Saulston; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Hamilton Funeral Chapel is serving the family.
