JAMES PARKER SMITH

James Parker Smith, 89, passed away Monday, June 17, 2013, at Willow Creek Nursing Home.
James was born in Wayne County Aug. 4, 1923, to the late George and Dollie S. Smith.
He retired from Kemp Furniture Co.
James was a member of Park East Church of God.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 20, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. J. Wesley Jarman officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park with military honors.
James is survived by his wife of 71 years, Druella Reeves Smith; daughter-in-law, Edith Smith of Goldsboro; brother, Edward "Tink" Smith and wife, Norma Lee, of Goldsboro; three grandchildren, Teresa Combs and Joe, Tammy Mooring and Carl and Pamela Walker and Gene; eight great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grand-children.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, William Douglas Smith.
The family will receive friends in the hour prior to the service, and other times at the home of Teresa Combs.
