GERALDINE T. SMITH

Geraldine Rae Smith, 80, passed away Tuesday evening at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Taylor and Amelia McLawhorn Taylor, and wife of the late Leander "L.P." Smith.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Smith; a grandchild, Missy Smith; and a great grandchild, Tyler Suggs.
She devoted her life to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
A service to celebrate her life will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with the Rev. Sherwood Howell officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends Thursday evening at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m., and at other times will be at the home of her granddaughter, Leigh Mitchell, 1502 Laurel St., Goldsboro.
She is survived by her daughter, Jackie Mitchell and her husband, Johnny Mitchell; her grandchildren, Terri Grady and husband, Scott Grady, Christal Curran and fiancé, Scott Crocker, Leigh Mitchell and boyfriend, Brandon Ellis, Brandy Mitchell and boyfriend, Matt Grady, and Johnny Mitchell Jr. and wife, Sue Mitchell; and great-grandchildren, Justin Grady, Brandon Mitchell, Zackary Suggs, Blake Grady, Allan Best Jr., Sydney Mitchell, Braeden Curran, Nick Mitchell and Camden Mitchell.
