DR. HOMER L. PHILLIPS

Dr. Homer Lee Phillips, 82, passed away on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
A service remembering the life of Homer will be held on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Drew Clark officiating.
Homer was born in Ronceverte, W.Va., on July 28, 1930, to the late Homer Lafayette Phillips and Alta Baker Phillips. He served in the United States Air Force as a prosthodontist and retired after 27 years of distinguished service to his country with the rank of colonel. Homer was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and elder. He was also a member of the Troubleshooters Group. Homer was a graduate of West Virginia University and Temple University School of Dentistry. He was a member of the North Carolina Watchmakers Association.
Homer is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jane Kirby Phillips; daughter, Sandra Jean Phillips Duguid; sons, William C. Phillips, Glenn E. Phillips and Steven M. Phillips; brothers, John Phillips and Thomas Phillips; and six grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday in McChesney Hall at First Presbyterian Church following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Homer's memory to First Presbyterian Church, 1101 E. Ash Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
