Wade Harper Kearney, 84, passed away Friday.
A service to celebrate his life will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Episcopal Church with the Rev. Doug Culton officiating. Burial will follow in Pikeville Cemetery. There will be a reception in the church fellowship hall from noon until 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
A native of Greene County, he was the son of the late William Morgan and Carrie Wade Kearney. Mr. Kearney was a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church and was past warden of the church vestry. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed most of his adult life in Wayne County.
Survivors are his wife, Effie Snead Kearney; daughters, Mary Ann McDonald Turlington and husband, Lloyd, of Pikeville, Rosemary Kearney Dove and husband, Gene, of Gaithersburg, Md., and Mary Ellen Kearney Seay and husband, James Jr., of Wilmington; sisters, Ruby K. Barker of Goldsboro, Carol K. Lanaville and husband, Mose, of Goldsboro, and Sarah Kearney of Goldsboro; brothers, Paul Kearney and wife, Shirley, of Newport News, Va. and Jim Kearney and wife, Janet, of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Valerie McDonald Howell and husband, Michael, Sylvia Dove, Mary Elizabeth Seay McIntosh and husband, Eric, Julia Dove Hays and husband, Matt, and James Lee Seay III and wife, Anne; great-granddaughter, Caroline Seay.
Mr. Kearney was preceded in death in addition to his parents by his sister, Betty K. Cox and a brother, Bill Kearney.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
