MOUNT OLIVE — Mrs. Lucille Lewis Turner Williams, 85, of the Rones Chapel community near Mount Olive, passed away late Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 21, 2012.
Her family will receive friends on Saturday, Nov. 24, at Tyndall Funeral Home from 1 until 2 p.m., at which time funeral services will be held in the chapel. The Rev. Christopher Turner will officiate, and burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Too, her family will receive friends on Friday, Nov. 23, at the home of her late son, Gene Turner, in the Rones Chapel community.
Mrs. Williams worshipped at Rones Chapel United Methodist Church for as long as her health permitted. In doing so, she had been quite active, and had taught Sunday school among other duties. She was a member of the Southern Wayne Business and Professional Women’s Club and will be fondly remembered as operating the Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio in Mount Olive for a number of years.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Albert Turner Jr. and Edsel Williams; her son, David Eugene “Gene” Turner; her daughter, Janet Turner Barwick; her parents, Herbert and Beulah Dunbar Lewis; and two sisters, Helen L. Mercer and Marjorie L. Mercer.
She is survived by her three granddaughters, Angela Barwick Payne and husband, Steve, of Cummings, Ga., Kelly Turner Morris and husband, Brent, of Clayton, and Ashley Turner Brodzinski and husband, Ben, of Raleigh; four great-grandchildren, Meghan Payne, Blake Payne, Kaden Morris, and Holden Morris; and a brother, Robert S. “Bob” Lewis of Fla.
Her family welcomes floral tributes as well as memorial gifts to Rones Chapel Church, 138 Garner's Chapel Road, Mount Olive, NC 28365.
