PAULINE DORTCH
May 29, 1937-Sept. 19, 2012
The life of Pauline Dortch, affectionately known as "Paul" or "Lady Bug" or Slim," came peacefully to a close Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
She was born May 29, 1937, in Goldsboro, to the late Isaac Dortch and Patsy Rivers Dortch Coley.
She was reared and educated in the Goldsboro city schools.
She attended Faith United, and was the mother of the church. She worked with the youth.
She enjoyed cooking and doing hair, as well as helping and giving to people.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Dortch; two sons, William Dortch and Isaac Dortch; two sisters, Edna Dortch and Carolyn Coley; and a brother, Roy Dortch.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories of a life well spent three daughters, Tarrie (Jack) Chambers of Bristow, Va., and Sophia Woodard and Ike "Pam" (Curtis) Teachey both of Goldsboro; two sons, Quavis Dortch of Suitland, Md., and Ron (Seconda) Dortch of Baltimore, Md.; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a brother, Roland Coley of Goldsboro; six sisters, Mary Dortch of Hyattsville, Md.; and Dorothy Coley, Fannie Mae (Earl) Holmes, Lola Coley, Patrice Coley and Catherine Coley all of Goldsboro; a daughter-in-law, Retta Dortch of Suitland, Md.; an aunt, Martha (Iven) Riddick of Raleigh; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A service of remembrance will be held Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at New Spirit Church Ministries at 1501 N. William St.
Following the services in the sanctuary, Ms. Dortch's delicate temple, along with her adored family, will be escorted by E.M. Matthews' angelic white fleet to Old Mill Cemetery for interment rites.
Ms. Dortch and the Dortch family are in the hallmark of care at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home.
