Mr. Ruffin Lofton Jr., 67, lovingly known by his family and friends as "Junior," 503 Whitfield Drive, departed his earthly life Monday, July 23, 2012, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro.

Junior was born in Wayne County June 1, 1945, to the late Mrs. Ardelia Davis Lofton and Mr. Ruffin Lofton Sr.

He received his early education in the public schools in Wayne County, and Junior was a graduate of Carver High School in the class of 1964.

After graduating from high school, Ruffin served his country by enlisting in the United States Army.

Early in life, Junior met, dated, romanced and married his wife, Mrs. Catherine Bryant Lofton. To that union three children were born.

Junior was employed with Bridgestone/Firestone Tire Co., where he later retired.

Also, Mr. Lofton was a member of Saint Mark Church of Christ.

Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, July 28, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Saint Mark Church of Christ, 700 W. Ash St., Goldsboro, with bishop Alton A. Smith officiating.

Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park Cemetery, 2925 S. U.S. 117. Dudley.

Also, a public viewing will be held Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Saint Mark Church of Christ, 700 W. Ash St., Goldsboro, from 10 to 10:50 a.m.

Mr. Lofton leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories his wife of 45 years, Mrs. Catherine Lofton; two daughters, Jennifer Foxx and husband, Ronald, and Beverly Lofton; a son, Ruffin Demond Lofton; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; three sisters; a brother; two aunts; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will assemble at the residence, 503 Whitfield Drive, Goldsboro, one hour prior to the funeral at 10 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
