JULIA MAE DILDY MCCULLEN

SEVEN SPRINGS -- Julia Mae Dildy McCullen, 87, 873 Pineview Cemetery Road, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 8, while at home.
A native of Walstonburg, she had been a longtime member of Rones Chapel United Methodist Church near Mount Olive, and was very involved in its United Methodist Women.
Being quite active in her community, she was a member of Tri-Com Extension Club and Wayne County Farm Bureau Women's Committee.
She always seemed to appear just when she was needed, whether it be to console and prepare meals for grieving families, serve at church and community barbecue suppers or volunteer at the county fair.
She is survived by her husband, R.E. McCullen of the home; a son, Randy Lee McCullen and wife, Sandra Raiford McCullen, of Dudley; two grandchildren, Amanda M. Warren and husband, Brandon, of Clinton and Chandler McCullen and wife, Brandi, of Seven Springs; four great-grandchildren, Cullen Blake Warren, John Paul McCullen, Brady Sutton Warren and R. E. Lee McCullen; two sisters, Janie Waters and husband, Claude "Shorty," of Charlotte and Peggy Gay of Walstonburg; two sisters-in-law, Louise Albritton of Hookerton and Chris Dildy of Littleton; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. McCullen was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee Dildy and Gertrude Galloway Dildy; a daughter, Millicent Joy McCullen; three brothers, Leroy Dildy, Alvin Dildy and Jimmy Dildy; and a sister, Geraldine D. Owens.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, with the Rev. Richard Hill and the Rev. Mike Whatley officiating.
Visitation will be immediately following the service, and at other times at the McCullen residence.
Burial will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Pineview Cemetery in Seven Springs.
The McCullen family would like to extend a special thanks to Mrs. McCullen's current caregivers, Beverly Williams, LaWanna Wynn and Juanita Moody, and all former care givers. Also, a special thanks to Carolina East Hospice Center and the Rones Chapel Church family for their love, care and support.
