JEAN M. PARSON

Jean Mitchell Parson, 79, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, June 15, 2012, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at 3 p.m. at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1100 The First Church Road, with the Rev. James Skinner, Bishop Jimmy Whitfield and the Rev. Bill Rose officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Jean was born in Johnson County on Oct. 1, 1932, to the late Thomas Edward Mitchell and Katie Williams Mitchell. She was employed for over 23 years as a service representative with Southern Bell Telephone Company. Jean served with her husband in ministry in the North Carolina Pentecostal Holiness Denomination. She was devoted to the churches they served and was involved in many activities where she utilized her gifts and abilities to share the love of God. She enjoyed the many opportunities she had to mentor young people and work with mission projects at her church. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her precious grandchildren. She will be missed.

Jean is survived by her husband of 57 years, the Rev. Richard H. Parson; her daughter, Ginger P. Connor and husband, Eric, of Goldsboro; her granddaughters, Erin Connor and Gina Connor; her sister, Sherryl Crowder of Baldwin, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many special friends and family at St. John Pentecostal Holiness Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Sammie E. Mitchell, Elton T. "Mickey" Mitchell and Jimmy Mitchell; and her sisters, Hazel Dickens, Bessie Sugg and Dorothy Hall.

The family will receive friends Monday, June 18, 2012, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home.
