Donald Thomas Heffner, 64, died Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Born in Jersey City, N.J., he was the son of the late Henry Charles Heffner and Helen Staniszewski Heffner.
Donald proudly served his country in Vietnam as a United States Marine from 1967 to 1969.
He worked for 15 years at Western Electric Co. in Kearney, N.J., and later worked at Georgia-Pacific Corp. in Dudley for 23 years.
A service to celebrate Donald's life will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. by the graveside at Wayne Memorial Park, with Mr. Rick Pridgen officiating.
Family members will greet friends Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Donald is survived by his wife, Doris Jean Heffner; his son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Toni Heffner of Ayden; his daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Barry DeLong of Durham; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy and Kathy Heffner and Glenn and Barbara Heffner; three grandchildren, Tam DeLong, Medko DeLong and Riley Heffner; and several special nephews and nieces.
