MOUNT OLIVE -- Walter Theodore "Knot" Dail, 71, died Monday morning, April 9, at home at 1409 White Flash Road.
Services will be held Thursday, April 12, at 11 a.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, with ministers Douglas Houston and Kenneth Dail officiating. Interment will follow in Pineview Cemetery.
Pleasant Grove Fire Department will provide fireman funeral honors.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, April 11, from 7 to 9 p.m., and at the home at other times.
Mr. Dail was retired from Kemp Furniture, where he worked in maintenance.
He was a member of Pleasant Grove Volunteer Fire Department and EMS, and had been very involved in Pleasant Grove Community Watch.
He was baptized into the faith at Garner's Chapel Baptist Church when he was a youngster.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 54 years, Alene Murphy Dail of the home; a daughter, Helen Jeanette Howard of Kinston; a son, Walter Glenn Dail and his special friend, Tracy Raymond, of Marysville, Mich.; grandchildren, Celia Beth Wanez and husband, Jason, of Pink Hill, Kimberly Lynn Tyndall and husband, D.L., of Albertson and Andrew Elwood Howard of the home; two great-granddaughters, Veronica Trejo Wanez and Maeci Denae Tyndall; a special friend, Patrick Howard of Mount Olive; a brother-in-law; four sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Theodore Dail and Mary Lou Hill Dail King; a sister, Betty Lou D. Murphy; and two brothers, Delmas Dail and Allen "Tiny Man" Dail.
