JANA W. BRYAN

Jana Bell Worrell Bryan passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, in Raleigh.
She was born Feb. 2, 1928, in Goldsboro into a large family of the late L. Kirby Worrell and Pearl Turner Worrell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Wayland Bryan, and infant son, John Michael Bryan. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Emmitt Worrell, Kirby Lee Worrell, Johnny Worrell, Paul Worrell, M.D. "Buster" Worrell, Waitus Worrell and Wilburt Worrell, and sisters, Selma Lancaster, Abia Lawson, Esther Mae Kearney and Esther Balkcum.
Surviving are two sisters, Elizabeth Edmunson of Goldsboro and Pearl Holloman of Kinston, and two brothers, Harold Worrell and Lawrence Worrell both of Goldsboro.
She is also survived by her children, Sharon Bryan Lammons and husband, John, of Raleigh, Linda Bryan Padgett and husband, Keith, of Wilmington and Donald E. Bryan and wife, Betsy, of Raleigh; grandchildren, Anthony D. Lammons and wife, Loredana, Dorothy Bryan Cole and husband, Jon, and Elizabeth M. Bryan; and three great-grandchildren, Lucas Lammons, Nicholas Lammons and Patrick Bryan Cole.
Jana had many God-given talents ,and was great with people, which lead her through many different jobs in her lifetime.
First and foremost she was a great wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Her early career began at SS Kresge in Goldsboro as a clerk, and she remained friends with several co-workers over the years.
She was a talented artist who kept her sketchpad close at hand, drawing many pictures of nature and family. She was also a "blogger" before her time keeping a book about experiences and events that took place in her daily life.
She had an amazing green thumb, and could design beautiful flower arrangements, leading her to work for several florists in Wilmington.
Later in life, she helped care for Mr. Harry Register and Mrs. Lillian Ely, which allowed them to stay at home and greatly enriched their lives in the process.
In the last three years, she continued to care for her roommates, calling on them to make sure they were okay.
Jana loved being outside, and had beautiful flower gardens. She could take anything out of the yard and make it into a decorative creation.
At holidays, the food came to the table decorated with her special touches. And as for the table, there were no empty seats as she encouraged us to bring in those whom didn't have family around especially during the holidays.
A visitation will take place Friday, Feb. 3, at 1:30 p.m., and a service at 3 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, 1300 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley.
