RET. TECH. SGT. GARLAND JONES

PIKEVILLE -- Ret. Tech. Sgt. Garland Jones, 71, of Pikeville, died Saturday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Jones-Elks Family Cemetery in Pikeville with Pastor Greg Stancil officiating. The family will greet friends after the service at the cemetery.
Born in Pitt County, he was the son of the late Raymond and Ethel Hardy Jones, and the husband of Doris Elks Jones. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force with 20 years.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Jones is survived by four daughters, Angela Rose, Janice Miller, Ann Grimms, and Katherine Trogden; one son, Steve Thornton; one brother, Earl Jones; three sisters, Jessie Baker, Lucille Jones, and Betty Lane; a special great-grandson, Nathaniel Miller; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and a close friend, Bill W.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Antioch FWB Church, 1407 Antioch Rd., Pikeville, NC 27863.
