BILLY R. GRADY

DUDLEY -- Billy Ray Grady, 74, of 1156 Emmaus Church Road, went to his Heavenly home after a long courageous battle with cancer, Monday morning at his home.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was an active member of Salem Advent Christian Church of Mount Olive, where he served his Lord. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and NASCAR racing. He also served as past chief of the Arrington Volunteer Fire Department during the 1960s and '70s. Billy had been employed with Burch Farms until he was unable to continue due to his health.
Services will be held at 7 p.m. tonight at Tyndall Funeral Home with Dr. Harry Soucy officiating, followed by visitation. Burial will be at Wayne Memorial Park on Thursday at 10 a.m.
Mr. Grady is survived by his wife, Mary Vance Grady; two daughters, Debbie Grady and special friend, Ted Moody of Dudley, and Tammy G. Evans and husband, Steven of Fremont; a sister, Frankie G. Taylor and husband, James of Dudley; a daughter-in-law, Jackie B. Grady of Mount Olive; eight grandchildren, Michael Tripp and wife, April, Vance Grady, Aaronia Grady Womble, Leighanna G. Kornegay and husband, Jonathan, Gail Evans Price and husband, Josh, Laura Raper and husband, Alex, Allison Evans, and Steven T. Evans Jr.; and seven great-grandchildren, Rebecca and Jonathan Tripp, Riley and Laylah Grady, Emma Raye Kornegay, David Ethan and Bobbie Price, and another, Allie Raper, due to arrive in September; two nephews, Al Taylor and Jerry Taylor and their families; and a loyal pet, "Precious."
Mr. Grady was preceded in death by his parents, Milford Willard Grady and Sallie Mae Brogden; a son, Billy Vance Grady; and a granddaughter, Ashley N. Tripp.
The family would like to express their love and heartfelt thanks to the staff of United Hospice, and Dr. Kasbari and staff of the Southeastern Medical Oncology Center in Goldsboro for the care given to Billy.
