MARGARET R. STAFFORD

NEW BERN -- Margaret R. Stafford, 86, New Bern, died July 18, 2011, at Carolina East Medical Center.
Ms. Stafford, a devoted Christian, was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She always maintained a strong church affiliation her entire life.
She was employed as an administrative assistant in several eastern North Carolina venues. Her last employment was with the North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries in Morehead City, N.C.
Ms. Stafford loved her family very much, and she appreciated her special time with her many friends and co-workers.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Gibbie H. and Lyde Lee Newsome Rackley; husband, William C. (Cotton) Stafford Sr.; and a brother, Wallace Rackley.
She is survived by her son, William C. "Bill" Stafford Jr. of New Bern; her daughter, Dwanda S. Milledge and husband, Robert, of Woodbine, Ga.; her four grandchildren, Shannon Powell, Everet Taggart, Cullen Stafford and Christy Stafford; a sister, Rose Marie Wise of Berlin, Md.; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins sprinkled throughout the eastern United States.
In her later years, she enjoyed the company of Edward P. Rivenbark, a faithful partner and friend.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2011, at Wayne Memorial Park in Goldsboro, N.C.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at 126 Monterey Circle, New Bern.
