WALTER W. "TOBY" MORRIS III

Toby, 71, passed away May 16, 2011, at Willowbrook Healthcare Center in Yadkinville, N.C., from Alzheimer's.
He was born June 16, 1939, in Roxboro, N.C., to Walter W. Morris Jr. and Kathleen J. Morris.
He grew up in Durham, N.C., and graduated from Durham High School in 1957. He was involved in many activities including football and track. He graduated from North Carolina State University in 1962 with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, was an avid North Carolina State fan and a member of Theta Tau Engineering Fraternity.
Toby was employed a few years at Pratt-Whitney Aircraft in West Palm Beach, Fla.
He spent more than 25 years working for IBM in Boca Raton, Fla., and Raleigh, N.C.
He served actively in church as a teacher, deacon, elder and lay minister.
Toby is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patsy Deal Morris of Winston-Salem, N.C.; son, Kenneth "Skip" Morris (wife, Melanie); three grandsons, Jordan, Curran and Jameson of Goldsboro, N.C.; son, Michael Christopher Morris (wife, Jennifer) of Raleigh, N.C.; brother, William "Bill" Morris and Peggy of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Durham, N.C.; and nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Toby was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Charmeyne "Tootsie" Morris Phillips.
Family visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. at North Haven Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, 6620 Six Forks Road, with service to follow at 2 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2011. Interment will be at Brier Creek Memorial Gardens following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your local Alzheimer's Association or North Haven Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church in Raleigh, N.C.
