DUDLEY -- David Millard Jr., 69, went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at home with his family by his side.
Homegoing services will be held today, Jan. 9, 2011, at 3 p.m. at Pikeville First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service and other times at the home.
David was born in Wayne County on March 8, 1941, to the late David Millard Sr. and Margaret Hinson Millard. He attended Pikeville First Baptist Church very actively and was a retired insurance agent.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Kay Millard; two sons, David Millard III of Faison and the Rev. Jimmy Millard and wife, Leslie, of Pikeville; two daughters, Emma Kay Lewis and husband, Steve, of Mount Olive, and Ginger Millard Mendoza and husband, Dennis, of Goldsboro; three brothers, James Millard and wife, Frances, of Grantham, Buddy Millard and wife, Diane, of Dudley and Joe Millard of Mount Olive; three sisters, Margaret Darden of Mount Olive, Peggy Jackson and husband, Allen, of Smithfield and Eva Vonnie Hinson and husband, Marshall, of Dudley; 10 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Tony Millard; a sister, Linda Joe; and a grandson, Shellmon Millard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christian Faith Church of God, 2046 Emmaus Church Road, Dudley, NC 28333.
