Byron J. "Johnny" Greene Jr. Major, U.S. Army (ret.) of New Market, Md., died on Friday, Sept. 10, 2010.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, at the University Baptist Church, 3515 Campus Drive, College Park, Md., 20740. The Rev. John P. Burns will officiate. Interment will be in Crownsville Veterans Cemetery.
He was the loving and beloved husband of Mary C. Greene; father of Margaret Caroline Greene; stepfather of Kenneth Lowell Murphy. He is also survived by cousins, Lynette Parker, Ann Morgan, Melanie Fulkerson, Franklin Flowers and William Flowers; aunts Carolyn Flowers and Alma Morris.
Mr. Greene was born on Jan. 26, 1949, in Goldsboro, the son of the late Byron J. Sr., and Margaret Becton Greene. Although he moved from North Carolina, he was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 0634 (Goldsboro), Shriners International (New Bern), the NC State Alumni Association, and was a member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church.
Friends may call from 2 until 4 p.m. and 7 until 9 p.m., Monday, Sept. 13, 2010, at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, Md.
