MATTIE LEE FLANAGAN GREENFIELD

Mattie Lee Flanagan Greenfield, 108, daughter of the late Elisha James Flanagan and Martha Miller Flanagan Lofton, was born Sept. 16, 1901, in Indian Springs Township of North Carolina. She departed this life Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010, at home.
A viewing will be held at Rhodes Funeral Home today from 6 to 8 p.m., with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Best Chapel Free Will Baptist Church Tuesday, Aug. 17 at 3 p.m.
She was married to the late William Street Greenfield, and to this union six children were born.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; three oldest sons, Warren, Fane and William S. Jr.; daughter-in-law, eldress Maude R. Greenfield; three grandsons; a great-grandson; and two great-granddaughters.
Mrs. Greenfield leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Ruth G. Harris and husband, James, of Seven Springs, N.C.; two sons, Dr. Wilbert Greenfield and wife, Felicia, of Accokeek, Md., and Dr. Elisha J. Greenfield and wife, Irma, of Chicago, Ill.; a daughter-in-law, Dollie R. Greenfield of Goldsboro, N.C.; 13 loving granddaughters; nine devoted grandsons; 23 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
Although flowers are welcome, memorial contributions may also be made to Best Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, c/o Geral Grady, 3305 Indian Springs Road, Seven Springs, N.C., 28578.
