GRANTHAM -- Jonas Brinson Jr. 82, died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held tonight at 7 at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, with the Rev. William Creech officiating. The burial service for Mr. Brinson will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Sasser Cemetery off of Crow's Foot Road in Mount Olive.
He was a native of the Richlands area of Onslow County and was a United States Army veteran.
Having been a farmer in his younger days, he retired from Borden Manufacturing Co. as a supervisor with 32 years of service.
He was a member of Falling Creek Baptist Church.
Mr. Brinson is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Jennifer S. Brinson of Seven Springs; two grandchildren, L.J. Brinson and wife, Brittany, of Garner, and Caroline Brinson of Seven Springs; and two sisters, Lena Horne of Jacksonville and Shelby Futrell and husband, J. D., of Richlands.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Sasser Brinson; three sons, infant Jeremy Brinson, Gary Brinson and Kevin Brinson; his parents, Jonas and Eliza Scott Brinson; and a brother, Marion Brinson.
Immediately following the service, the family will receive friends at the funeral home, and at other times at the home of his son at 4786 N.C. 111 south in Seven Springs.
