RONALD AUTRE SHARPE

WINSTON-SALEM - Ronald Autre Sharpe, 63, passed away Saturday surrounded by his family at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He fought a brave battle with kidney cancer for the past two years.
Ron was born in Middlesboro, Ky., on May 25, 1946, the son of the late V.A. and Clara Turner Sharpe. He is survived by his wife, Judy; one son, Ronald Sharpe Jr. of Winston-Salem; one daughter, Ashley Sharpe Favors and husband, Landon, of Panama City, Fla.; and one very special granddaughter, Leah, who affectionately called him "Grampy"; and one brother, David Sharpe and wife, Leanne, of Harrogate, Tenn.
Ron served in the U.S. Air Force and was a graduate of Lincoln Memorial University, Harrogate, Tenn., where he majored in business administration. He was employed with J.C. Penney for 36 years and had lived in Kinston and Goldsboro, as well as Winston-Salem, during his career.
The family extends its deepest appreciation for Ron's care and family support given by the staff at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center Oncology Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials are made to the American Cancer Society or the Kidney Cancer Association.
A memorial service will be held at Vogler and Sons Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Thursday. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
