Juanita Elizabeth Tew Waters Shivar, 84, passed away Sunday at Britthaven Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in the Chambers Family Cemetery near Albertson.
Juanita was born in Duplin County Oct. 28, 1924, to the late Sylvester T. Tew Sr. and Gabrilla Chambers Tew.
She had worked with civil service at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base and retired with 32 years of service. Juanita later worked as a sales clerk with Brody's at Berkeley Mall.
Juanita is survived by her son, Gregory Kent Waters; her daughter-in-law, Pamela Moen Waters; her grandchildren, Jennifer Leigh Waters Vilsack, Kristin Victoria Waters Ravine and Ryan Christopher Waters; her great-grandchildren, Dylan Tyler Ravine and Kyla Mali Ravine; her niece, Valerie Tew Barwick; and her nephew, Sylvester Winslow Tew III.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Frank D. Waters and Damon Shivar, and her brother, Sylvester W. Tew Jr.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
