JULIAN H. SAULS

Julian Hillsman Sauls, 70, 100 Northview Drive in the Belfast community, died Thursday at Avante Nursing Home in Wilson.
A service to celebrate Julian's life will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with elder John Hess officiating. Burial will follow in Eureka Cemetery.
A native of Wayne County, Julian was the son of the late Charles Vernon Sauls and Julia Perry Sauls.
He was a member of Aycock Primitive Baptist Church.
Julian was retired from Burlington Industries and had served as a board member and volunteer fireman with the Belfast Fire Department with more than 20 years of service. Julian was an avid sports fan and served his country in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963.
Julian is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Susie Whitfield Sauls; son, Scott Sauls and wife, Rita, of Wilson; his grandchildren whom he loved and adored, Aurie and Blaine Sauls; sisters, Edith S. Head of Eureka and Dora Lou Radford and husband, Robert, of Wilson; brothers, Charles Sauls of Goldsboro, William V. Sauls and wife, Gray, of Eureka and Wayne Sauls and wife, Faye, of Fremont; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Julian was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Sauls.
Julian's nephews will serve as pallbearers and members of Belfast Fire Department will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Avante Nursing Home for its love and care of Julian during his stay at the nursing home.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Seymour Funeral Home and will be at the residence at other times.
