DUDLEY -- Kenneth Earl Davis Sr., 70, died at his home Monday.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with visitation immediately following the service, with the Rev. John Shore officiating. Graveside services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park Mausoleum.

He was born Nov. 19, 1938, to the late Charlie William and Fonnie Bell Herring Davis.

He was a city policeman and a deputy for years in Wayne County, but was last employed as a route salesman for Franklin Bakery, where he worked for 28 years.

He attended church at Fellowship Baptist in Goldsboro. He enjoyed keeping goats and other animals and going to antique or "junk" sales as he called them, but his greatest pleasure the last decade of his life came from being Daddy to Savannah Arial Davis, or "Sam" as he so affectionately called her.

Along with Sam, Kenneth is survived by his wife, Judy Adams Davis of Seven Springs, and three sons and their wives, Kenneth Earl Davis Jr. and Jeanette, Charles Alan Davis and Esther Jo and Bryan Keith Davis and Debbie.

He was also father to Kristina Davis, Marsha Davis and Sunny Davis. He was stepfather to Dena Whitfield, Joseph Danizio, Heidi Grady and Dustin Grant. Kenneth's grandchildren are Katlyn, Meredith, Morgan, Madison, Jonathon, Stephanie, Lauren, Riley and Hayden, and he had 14 stepgrandchildren.

He also was a licensed foster parent, in which capacity he was able to help raise many other children.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Elizabeth Davis Hardy, and two brothers, Robert E. Davis and James E. Davis.
