RALEIGH -- Elizabeth Dees, 85, died Monday evening at Rex Hospital.
On Friday, March 6, at 1 p.m., there will be a graveside service at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont, N.C., with the Rev. Steve Hickle of Fairmont United Methodist Church of Raleigh officiating.
The family will receive friends after the graveside service in the fellowship hall of Fremont United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to COPE Eldercare, P.O. Box 5825, Cary, N.C., 27512.
Elizabeth "Betty" was born in Natick, Mass., the only child of Nelson and Ruth McCully.
She graduated from Monticello College in Godfrey, Ill., and attended The University of Chicago once it became co-ed. Betty also attended Parsons School of Design in Chicago. She worked as a buyer for Marshall Fields in Chicago and was one the first women executives within the company.
Betty married William R. Dees, formerly of Fremont, N.C,, a pilot and career officer in the Air Force He survives and resides at The Oaks of Carolina in Raleigh.
She is also survived by two daughters, Jane Vogel of Bloomington, Ill., and Barbara Mangold of Catawba, N.C.
One son, Robert "Bob" Dees, preceded her in death.
