FREDDIE ADAMS SR.

Freddie Adams Sr., 74, passed away Sunday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Coker Memorial Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Freuler, the Rev. Charles Heath and Dr. Preston Heath officiating. Burial will follow in the Princeton Cemetery.
Freddie was born in Johnston County on June 13, 1934, to the late Henry Adams and Alice Lynch Adams. He had worked in auto sales for more than 50 years and was the former owner and operator of Freddie Adams Dodge and Freddie Adams Lincoln-Mercury in Goldsboro.
Freddie was a member of Coker Memorial Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon and head usher. He had also served as head usher for the Princeton Baptist Church, and head usher and deacon for Oak Heights Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. In 1968, he became the first Republican county commissioner elected for Johnston County in 100 years. Freddie served his country in the United States Army.
Freddie is survived by his wife, Jean P. Adams; his children, Phyllis Adams of Collierville, Tenn., Laurie A. Strickland and husband, William "Bubba" of Wilson, Wendy Adams Pinkham and husband, Jim of Charlotte, Freddie Adams Jr. and wife, Norlette of Goldsboro, and Frankie A. Dawson and husband, Brian of Goldsboro; his stepchildren, Kim T. Badstein and husband, Scott of Kenly and Bruce Tart Jr. and wife, Dianne of Goldsboro; and eight grandchildren.
He is also survived by his beloved pet, Prissy Bell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Earl Adams, Carl Adams and Thomas Adams.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of Freddie and Norlette Adams, 101 Cassedale Drive, Goldsboro, NC.
