Rodney James Wilson, 70, of 304 Lorease Drive, Dudley, died Friday at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.
His life will be remembered and celebrated Tuesday at 1 p.m. at St. Mark Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ, with Bishop Alton Smith officiating.
Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park Cemetery, Highway 117 South..
Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Ronnie Malachi and Jennie Mae Wilson. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Waldore Wilson Sr., and Ronnie Wilson Jr.
Rodney worked and retired from Cherry Hospital after 30 years of dedicated service. He continued to love and serve the needs of people through his home improvement business with his brother, Roger, all over the country and state. He was faithful and dedicated member of St. Mark Church of Christ for over 45 years.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Joyce Wilson; one daughter, Tawana of Cary; one son, James Ronnie, of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro; one stepdaughter, Trenice, of Clinton; two brothers, Roger Wilson of Goldsboro, and Woodrow Wilson and wife, Sharon, of Philadelphia; five sisters, Helen Daniels and husband, John, of Goldsboro, Evelyn Rivera of LaGrange, the Rev. Edna Harper, Gwyndella Wilson of Mount Olive, Delnora Walls and husband, Douglas, of Cary; an aunt, Emmaline Wilson of Philadelphia; two sisters-in-law; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 10 nieces; 11 nephews; and a host of cousins, other relatives and many friends.
The family will receive friends Monday at McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries from 6 until 7 p.m. and other times at the home.
