PRINCETON -- Archie Christopher Parrish, 86, died Sunday afternoon in Johnston Medical Center.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at Princeton Baptist Church with the Rev. Dwayne Batten officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Princeton Cemetery.
Born Sept. 18, 1922, in Wayne County to the late Leroy and Cora Alice Sasser Parrish, he was preceded in death by sisters Carolyn Parrish, Ellen Parrish and Mildred Merritt and a brother, Gurney Parrish.
Archie was a member of Princeton Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher.
Surviving are his wife, Clara Woodard Parrish; sons, Glenn Parrish and wife, Debra, of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Gene Parrish and wife, Debbie, of Princeton; brothers, Paul Parrish of Goldsboro and Wilton Parrish of Fremont; sisters, Emmie Pittman and Dorothy Parrish both of Kenly, Edna Holmes and Elgia Parrish, both of Goldsboro and Frances Hyde of Wilson; grandchildren, Jennifer D. Parrish, Amy Baumgartner and husband Jeff, Cindy Parrish and David Parrish; stepgrandchildren, Tabitha Garrison and Ernie Carter; great-grandchildren, Regan, Brett and Kate Baumgartner and step-great-grandchildren, Mackie Vaught and Lee, Andrew and Catherine Carter.
