SUE B. BOYD

Sue Butts Boyd, 87, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. at Sutton's Rest Home.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 to 2 at Seymour Funeral Home followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Ira Williford and the Rev. Gladys Wells officiating. Graveside services will be held immediately following the service at Wayne Memorial Park.
Mrs. Boyd was born in Greene County on Nov. 22, 1921, to the late Dan May and Addie Murphy May. She was a charter member of the United in Christ Church, where she enjoyed helping prepare for their annual harvest sales. Mrs. Boyd worked for over 30 years at Merritt's Shoe Store which later became Family Shoe Store in downtown Goldsboro.
Mrs. Boyd is survived by her son, William Danny Butts and wife, Lorraine of Dudley; two granddaughters, Sharon B. Barrow and husband, Michael of Pikeville and Rhonda Butts of Dudley; her sisters, Dorothy Finn and Geraldine Johnson and their families; her brothers, Murphy May, Harold May and Ray May and their families; and two great-grandchildren, Reiss and Dawson Barrow.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Carlton Butts and husband, the Rev. Milan Boyd; a son, Daniel Butts; two brothers, J.D. May and Dan May Jr.; three sisters, McClare S. Johnson, Grace Felton and Dosia "Doll" Vinson.
Although flowers are welcome, contributions in Mrs. Boyd's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, N.C., 27834.
The Butts family would like to express sincere thanks to the staff of Sutton's Retirement Center for their compassion and care along with many friends and neighbors.
