John Curtis Carr, 70, formerly of Goldsboro, passed away Monday after a short illness in Jacksonville Beach, Fla.
Graveside services will be held today at 11 at Wayne Memorial Park with Mr. Horace Modlin officiating.
He was born on June 14, 1938, to the late John Alexander and Norma Hunting Carr in Iron Mountain, Mich.
A graduate of Goldsboro High School and North Carolina State University, he had obtained a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was also a member of the Navy Reserve. After retiring from Sperry Corp., he lived in Florida.
Mr. Carr is survived by his brother, Geoffrey Bedford Carr and wife, Beverly of Goldsboro; two nephews, Geoffrey Alexander Carr of Greenville and John Robert Carr of Houston; one niece, Summer Singleton Carr Cortinas and Husband Luis of Asheville; and one great-niece Maebelle Sophie Cortinas, also of Asheville.
He was preceded in death by a niece, Catherine Renee Carr.
Family members will greet friends at the graveside immediately following the service and at other times at the home of his brother, Geoffrey Carr.
