GENE A. ALLEN

PRINCETON -- Gene Austin Allen, 79, of 12398 Brogden Road, died Thanksgiving morning at Smithfield Manor.
A funeral service will be held Saturday evening at 7 at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. James Corbett and Dennis Pollock officiating. A graveside service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park
Born in Johnston County, he was the son of the late Charlie and Peggy Gaines Allen, and husband of the late Clara King Allen. A member of Riverside Free Will Baptist Church, Gene was a former Vice President of the Johnston County Gospel Singers Association. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans, having served in the U. S. Army. He was an honorary member of the Opossum Hollow Hunting Club.
Mr. Allen is survived by his sons, Donnie Gene Allen of Princeton, John Wesley Allen of Smithfield; his daughters, Sharon Allen Woodall of Raleigh, Teresa Hardison and husband, Raybon Hardison Jr., of Princeton; five grandchildren, Carla Woodall Stillings of Goldsboro, Meredith Bryan Woodall Jr. of Smithfield, Angela Dawn Lee of Dunn, Gary Ray Hardison of Princeton, Elizabeth Allen Coor of Micro; and seven great-grandchildren, Kyle Lee, Kameron Lee and Kasey Lee, all of Dunn, Zachary Stillings and Jared Stillings, both of Goldsboro, Hailey Woodall and Cole Woodall, both of Smithfield.
Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Hardison, Meredith Woodall Jr., Jason Lee, David Willoughby, Jamie Snipes and Kyle Lee.
The family requests that instead of flowers, memorial gifts be directed to the Riverside Free Will Baptist Church, 3045 Richardson Bridge Road, Princeton, N.C. 27569.
Family members will greet friends Saturday night immediately following the funeral service and at other times will be at the home of Teresa and Ray Hardison, 12500 Brogden Road, Princeton, N.C.
