MOUNT OLIVE -- Wade Steele Sasser Jr., 47, died Sunday evening at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Tyndall Funeral Home with the Rev. Leland Heath and the Rev. Frank Harrison officiating. Interment will be in Wayne Memorial Park with Masonic rites.
Steele grew up in the Smith's Chapel community. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Mount Olive and the Mount Olive Masonic Lodge 208 A.F. and A.M. He possessed a God-given musical ability and was quite an accomplished pianist and organist. He was employed in the music department at Wayne Community College and had been a former teacher at Southern Wayne High School where he directed "Saint Sound."
He was preceded in death by his father, Wade S. Sasser Sr.
Steele is survived by his sons, Wade S. Sasser III of Raleigh and Hunter Sasser of Mount Olive; his mother, Wilma Dean Bradshaw Sasser of Mount Olive; a brother and sister-in-law, Dr. James Mark Sasser and Debbie Sasser of Mount Olive; a nephew, Connor Sasser, and a niece, Natalie Ecker, both of Mount Olive.
The Sasser family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home on Wednesday night from 7 to 9 p.m., and at other times at the home of Dr. and Mrs. J. Mark Sasser, 2907 N.C. Highway 55 W., Mount Olive.
