LULA K. VANDIFORD

SNOW HILL -- Lula Kearney Vandiford, 88, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.
Funeral services were held on Friday at 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Joe Strouse and the Rev. Larry Turlington officiating. Inter-ment was held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Snow Hill Cemetery.
Lula was born in Wilson County on Aug. 9, 1920, to the late George Kearney and Winnie Ham Kearney. She was married to the late John L. Vandiford. Lula was a member of Faro Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
Lula is survived by her daughters, Carol Creech and husband, William Kenneth Creech of Snow Hill and Phyllis Vandiford of Snow Hill; her sons, John W. Vandiford and wife, Annette, of LaGrange, Jerry S. Vandiford and wife, Sharon, of Snow Hill and Ronald Vandiford and wife, Wendy, of Snow Hill; her sisters, Bea Balkcum and husband, Vassie, of Goldsboro, Dolly Mackvick and husband, Gene, of Raleigh, Doris Loy and husband, Fred, of Goldsboro, and Faye Phillips of Goldsboro; her brothers, Kenneth "Tom" Kearney and wife, Betty, of Pikeville, and James "Bo" Kearney and wife, Mary, of Pikeville; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Edgar Kearney, Douglas Kearney, Wayne Kearney, Pete Kearney and Preston Kearney.
The family received friends following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and will receive friends other times at the home of Phyllis Vandiford, 1989 Shine Road, Snow Hill, N.C.
