FREMONT -- George Woodrow Rodgers, 81, 298 Aycock Acres Road, went to be with his Lord on Friday evening at Wilson Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the chapel of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont with visitation afterwards. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.
Mr. Rodgers was born in Wayne County on Dec. 26, 1926, to the late Wiley Gray Rodgers and Louisanna Killett Rodgers. He was a member of Fremont Free Will Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Ann Rodgers; one daughter, Linda Faye Lieder of Fremont; three grandchildren, T.J. Lieder, Chuck Beckerman and his wife, Naomi, and Ginny Beckerman; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Rodgers was preceded in death by one daughter, Jeannie Rodgers Beckerman; four brothers and six sisters.
