SALISBURY -- Jonathan (Jonny) "The Man" Thomas Richardson, 14, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday following injuries sustained in an auto accident.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Kannapolis Church of God, 2211 W. "A" St., Kannapolis. The funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Sam Crisp officiating. Graveside service and burial will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Rowan Memorial Park in Salisbury.
Born July 6, 1994 in Mecklenburg County, he was a freshman at North Hills Christian School in Salisbury, where he played varsity basketball. Jonny was also a member of Kannapolis Church of God.
He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Elizabeth Byars.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Steve and Theresa Richardson of Salisbury; mother and stepfather, Melissa and Barry Cummings of Salisbury; brothers, Josh and Jeff Richardson; stepsister, Heather Cummings-Wilson; stepbrothers, Brad and Michael Cummings, all of Salisbury; grandparents, Rich and Kathleen Richardson of Salisbury, Edna Waters Marshall of Charlotte, Tom and Darlene Marshall of Mount Ulla; great-grandmother, Margaret Waters of Goldsboro; great-grandparents, Lewis "Bud" and Grace Richardson of Wendell; aunts and uncles, Amanda Dykeman (Joseph) of St. Augustine, Fla., Suzanne Morrison (Vic) of Concord, David Richardson (Dana) of Charlotte, Maribeth Butler (Robert) of Indian Trail, Scott Richardson (Cynthia) of Monroe, Faith Randall (David) of Indian Trail, and Joy Hawkins (Bo) of Salisbury.
As an organ donor, Jonny is giving life to a young man in New York City, N.Y. (heart), a young man in Memphis, Tenn. (liver), and an organ recipient in Wake Forest (kidney and pancreas).
