WILMINGTON -- John Gary "J.G." Owens Jr., 75, passed away Monday at New Hanover Regional Hospital.
A memorial celebration service will be held at Wilmington Pentecostal Church on Saturday at 1 p.m. with visitation at noon in the church fellowship hall. The Rev. Rodney Knowles will officiate at the service.
J.G. was the son of Dora Jean Horne and John Gary Owens Sr. of Goldsboro, who predeceased him. He was also predeceased by a sister, Mary Olive Owens Weede.
He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Faulkner; two daughters, Beverly Owens of Wilmington and Dr. Pam Owens of Sunset Beach. He is also survived by a son, John Richard Owens of Wilmington; and a stepson, Eddie Faulkner and wife Tonya of Raleigh. In addition, left to carry on his memory is a brother, Carlyle Owens (Carolyn); three sisters, Doris Huffman (Donald), Joyce Tompkins (Jim) and Candy Smith (Jay). He also had one granddaughter; one step- granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.
After cremation, his ashes will be buried at a later time in a private family service.
