WILLIAM ALLEN BAKER

TSGT William Allen Baker, Retired U.S.A.F., 74, passed away Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park with full military honors.
Mr. Baker was born in Draper, Va., on Feb. 24, 1934, to the late Harley O. Baker and Beulah Chumbley Baker. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 22 years and retired with the rank of technical sergeant. After his military career, he began working with Ryder and retired with 20 years of service.
Mr. Baker is survived by his wife of 53 years, Minnie Baker; his daughters, Debbie Edwards of Goldsboro, Donna Brunk and husband, Marlin, of Thaxton, Va., Diana Gagnon and husband, Brent, of Guyton, Ga., and Pam Gulick of Roanoke; his son, Allen Baker of Pine Bluff, Ariz.; his brothers, Harley O. Baker Jr., John C. Baker and George D. Baker; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Baker for Myelodysplastic Syndrome Research, care of the American Cancer Society, 930 B Wellness Drive, Greenville, N.C. 27834.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home, 211 Grant Drive, Goldsboro.
