DOROTHY S. THAXTON

Dorothy Saintsing Thaxton, 76, died Monday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Graveside services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Warren Dale Cemetery in Norlina.
Mrs. Thaxton was a Goldsboro native, graduated from Wake Forest College and was married in 1955. She traveled throughout the United States with her career Air Force husband until his retirement in 1971 when they returned to their home state of North Carolina. She loved being a wife and mother teaching both English and Sunday school. She gained great pleasure in creative needlework of all types, gardening, reading; especially poetry and the companionship of several pets throughout her life.
Dorothy will be remembered and greatly missed by her daughters Debora Soule of Wyoming, Donna Israel and Denise Thaxton both of Goldsboro; her grandchildren, John, James, and Zachary Israel and Abra and Kaylynn Soule; her sister, Hope and brother-in-law, Art Connelly of Tampa, Fla.; brother-in-law, Robert Thaxton and wife, Jane of Wilson; sister-in-law, Virginia Saintsing of Salisbury; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Thaxton was preceded in death by her husband, James Leonard Thanxton; her daughter, Diane; her parents, John and Edna Earle Saintsing; and her brother John Saintsing.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C.
Arrangements are being handled by Blaylock Funeral Home in Warrenton.
